The Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi

Mission & Outreach Ministries

As the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi, we are charged with the mission of the church as well as creating the vision for the diocese to live out this mission. "The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ." (BCP p. 855) As understood by our diocesan bishop, The Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray, III, this mission shall be carried out by all congregations and their members by seeking to build "One Church in Mission; Inviting, Transforming and Reconciling".

In Mississippi, the Episcopal Church has had a long history of leadership in social-justice matters which have not only torn our state apart and but now give us opportunity for transformation and redemption. From issues of anti-racism to rebuilding just communities after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, our church has stepped out to be a living part of the body of Christ.

We invite all who find our ministries to be inviting to join us. Please call our staff at the diocesan office if you would like to know more about our mission and outreach programs.

Faithfully,
The Rev. Carol Borne Stewart
Assistant to the Bishop for Outreach and Community Development
